A great start to the season as we deservedly went out winners today.
It started with a close call in the 1st minute as Jordan Mumford had to make a reflex save, after a goal-bound mistake off the toe of Callum Pattison.
It took us 10 minutes to settle into the game as both sides couldn’t get the ball down.
On 19 minutes Jordan Mumford sends a big kick into the opponents half, bouncing over the defenders into the running path of Josh Booth who casually dinks the ball into the bottom right corner on his debut 0-1
The next big chance comes in the 31st minute as Sam Cooke floats in a free kick from the right, but a poor headed clearance lands in front of Tom Ray who volleys home from 8 yards to double the lead 0-2
We started to dominate play and grew in confidence throughout the first half after our slow start.
The start of the second half didn’t cause too much drama, as we settled down and played the ball well between ourselves.
Again it was us who had the better chances as Callum Pattison headed over from close range from a Richard Nock corner. Then an Elliott West overhead kick just going wide.
Rob Orrell then had the chance to put the game to bed with 20 minutes left, only to be denied by goal line clearance. Joe Crichton could have had 2 goals within minutes of each other as he spurned two chances towards the end.
Overall, we took the game to them. And Jordan Mumford didn’t really have much to do today as we continued our impressive play that carried on from our pre-season friendlies.
Callum Pattison collected The Man of The Match trophy for his display after a shaky start. And Jack West took home The Effort Award (awarded by Dec’s Mum) for his commanding display in the middle of the park.
